On February 23, 1978 by the decree of the Presidium of the Federal Assembly of Czechoslovakia 15/1978 introduced the honorary title of "Pilot-Cosmonaut of the CSSR" with the right to wear the badge of the same name. Assigning an honorary title by the President of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic citizens and citizens of other countries after the successful completion of tasks in space flight.

The first time (only one) the badge was awarded to Vladimir Remek, flew to the Soviet spacecraft "Soyuz-28" as part of the Czech-Soviet crew on 2-6 on March 1978.
